About Me

I don’t think I could tell you exactly when I decided that I was going to hike the PCT.  In fact, I can’t even remember when I first heard of the trail.  I had always said to my best friend “once you’re out of school we’ll hike the PCT together.”  But there was a day that I remember when I realized that the dream of hiking from Mexico to Canada was mine, and that his was actually rock climbing, and that I was going to hike the trail even without him and no matter what.

So by the time he told me that he couldn’t not rock climb for six months I had already made a spreadsheet of gear weights, planned my start date and ordered Yogi’s PCT Handbook.

While musing about the trail, I’ve graduated with a Fine Arts degree and worked as a barista in Portland, OR where I’ve been able to take advantage of the Pacific Northwest’s amazing outdoor resources.  I don’t know any other place in the world where you can find snowshoeing, beach walking, 12,000 ft. peaks, and lush green forests all about an hour from town.  Needless to say, I spend a majority of my time-off outside and I can’t complain one bit.

So now here we are – PCT 2014 is finally around the corner and I’m gearing up (literally) for, what will undoubtedly be, quite the adventure.

  1. Aloha Kelsey Hikes, When you follow your mind heart and soul you will find your talents that we all have. The fans at Case Study Café in Portland will be with you every step of the way. Before the start of your trip please Google Jerry Atlansky You might be a little surprised to see two programs I have been working on since 2005. Have the time of your life!

  2. Hello…
I am planning on doing some flip-flopping on the PCT this summer. My plan is to do the Washington section in sections. Starting end of May and ending sometime around September. Let me know as you get closer to Oregon and maybe a friend and I will be able to meet up with you for a few days. And same goes for Washington.
What are your estimated date of arrival into Canada?
